This research is a descriptive type of study, which was planned to investigate final year nurses students’ anxiety and hopelessness level as registered nurses toward appointment and not appointment. This research was carried out on 131 nurse students who attend Higher School of Nursing in İzmir in 2007-2008 education year and accepted to participate in research. Data of the research were collected by using a “Personal İnformation Form” which included socio-demographic characteristics of the candidate nurses, Spielberg State-Trait Anxiety Inventory and Beck Hopelessness Scale. In this research, State-Trait Anxiety Inventory’s Cronbach Alpha internal consistency coefficient was found as r= ,92. Hopelessness scale’s Cronbach Alpha internal consistency coefficient was found as r= ,82. Correlation, student t test and variance analyses were used in the evaluation of the data. It was found that the mean of candidate nurses’ State Anxiety Scale, Trait Anxiety Scale total points were moderate. It was found that the mean of Hopelessness Scale total and subscale of Feelings And Expectations About The Future, Loss Of Motıvatıon, Hope points were low. Candidate nurses’ status of having a job, status of choosing the profession of nursing, status of liking the profession and anxiety status about the assignment examination found that the relationaship between anxiety and hopelessness level. Anxiety and hopelessness level is lower students who don’t have a job, chosen the profession of their own accord, like the profession, don’t have anxiety about the assignment examination. According to these results; suggested that giving nurses seminars on areas to work after graduation, increase the number of positions for nurses, field nurses of occupational health and school health department.
